Some bodybuilders take Arimidex to reduce the side effects of anabolic steroids. "Effect of aromatase inhibition on lipids and inflammatory markers of cardiovascular disease in elderly men with low testosterone levels". "Effects of aromatase inhibition in elderly men with low or borderline-low serum testosterone levels".
Just the other day I had a consultation with a guy who told me about how he is on 150 mg of Testosterone per week for his TRT, and his doctor put him on 1 mg of Arimidex every day for his Aromatase Inhibitor. Then, after actually getting on TRT, another challenge often rears its ugly head, and that is Estrogen control, and how to go about doing it safely and most effectively. If you've read any of my posts about hormones, you probably already know by now how little faith I have in most general doctors when it comes to properly addressing underlying hormonal deficiencies and imbalances. Long story short, you can’t, unless you have been using the exact same compound for a very long period of time and have definitively concluded via blood work what dosage of that particular compound equates to a particular level of Estrogen aromatization in the body. So, it should be pretty obvious by now that there is a vastly different amount of aromatization occurring at different points of this cycle.
What this means for the end user is the risk of a rebound of Estrogen levels (and thus, Estrogen related side effects) if Arimidex use is halted too soon or abruptly after beginning use. This is because unlike Aromasin, Arimidex is a non-suicidal aromatase inhibitor. The third aromatase inhibitor, Aromasin (Exemestane) does not share this same attribute of the possibility of Estrogen rebound. This exists in particular with two of the three most popular aromatase inhibitors (Arimidex and Letrozole).
However, at the same time, the patients recorded increased HDL (good) cholesterol levels. A long list of side effects is recognized for this AI when used for medical purposes. For people preceding Arimidex altogether during post-cycle therapy, a combination of Clomid, Nolvadex, and hCG is often used instead.
The prescription dosing and administration of Arimidex in these cases call for 1mg taken once per day, until the progression of the cancer has stopped. This means that Arimidex will bind with and disable the aromatase enzyme, but it does not do it permanently. This is because Estrogen is responsible for the promotion of healthy cholesterol levels in the body, and a disruption of normal blood plasma levels of Estrogen will indeed throw that off.
Other uncommon possible side effects of Arimidex include fatigue, headache, nausea, and hot flashes. But if you’re using Arimidex and experience the above, lower your dose slightly and evaluate your response. Cardio work is also advised so you can keep cholesterol levels as optimal as possible during this time. Combined with AAS, which can also increase your cholesterol, you will want to do regular bloodwork to monitor your lipids on-cycle.
Like many drugs, Arimidex is sometimes prescribed off-label (which means the FDA does not approve its use) to men who are on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to lower estrogen levels. Even 0.5mg daily is too much for many anabolic steroid users, and often times the recommended dose is actually 0.5mg every other day of Arimidex. This is due to the fact that Arimidex is an ancillary drug not particularly used for the purpose of performance enhancement, but instead is utilized to combat or mitigate various Estrogen-related side effects when aromatizable anabolic steroids are utilized. This will be further explained in the side effects portion of this profile, but a general description is that these compounds (aromatase inhibitors) deprive the body of a very important hormone (Estrogen) that is important for various essential bodily functions at normal physiological levels. Remember that the reason for the use of an aromatase inhibitor should at all times be for the purpose of Estrgen control rather than Estrogen elimination, as the complete and total reduction of all Estrogen levels in the body can and does result in deleterious effects on the human body.
When Nolvadex treatment, for one reason or another, fails to meet expectations during breast cancer treatment, second-line adjunct drugs such as Arimidex are utilized. The misunderstanding that SERMs, such as Nolvadex and Clomid, serve to lower estrogen levels must first be addressed. Arimidex belongs to a category and class of drugs known as aromatase inhibitors (AIs). So therefore in addition to using anabolic steroids, you should also maintain a structured training and nutrition plan if you want to enhance your performance and promote muscle hypertrophy.
These risks include liver damage, cardiovascular problems, hormonal imbalances, and psychological effects such as aggression or shifts in mood. By doing this, it lowers the amount of estrogen in the body. In this article, we discuss what Arimidex does, why bodybuilders might use it, and the possible side effects.
